Summer 7's: Final Group Stage see YCAC and BFC progress

Sunday August 15th 2010 – YCAC.
BFC scrambled their way past competitive opposition to top group C while YCAC strolled comfortably past their contemporaries in group D to both move into the semi finals.
Celts sparked off the evening with a 3 - 0 drubbing over FC Dinos on pitch B. The sizable squad aiding recovery on what was a very warm and humid evening. A far tighter match could be seen on pitch A as group seed BFC took on FC International with FC Int taking early control of the affair.
Early domination was soon extinguished by a late surge by the BFC who were able to overcome the energy sapping heat to claim a draw and 1 point a piece.
The second wave of matches saw 16 goals scored - 10 coming from YCAC as they welcomed FJ Tournament debutants Murex Asia to the fold and a more closely fought affair between RW Geckoes and IFG Panthers saw the latter win 4 - 2. Both keepers displaying excellent technique to keep the scores down.
BFC continued their form with a dismantling of the Celts defences winning 3 - 1 and Dinos' evening deteriorated as FC International hit some form with a fine display of finishing, 7 - 1 the final score.
IFG Panthers were unable to contain the YCAC onlslaught as the third round of matches commenced. Time and time again they failed to deal with the long ball to the target man Chambers who was able to wrestle his man and nod the ball off to his team mates with ease, his efforts were rewarded with an easy flick on into the top corner. Classic Wimbledon, effective nonetheless.
With group D all but sewn up, it was down to group C's FC Dinos to throw a spanner in the works and try to halt BFC's march into the semis. It wasn't to be, BFC were able to dismiss the challenge with a comprehensive 6 - 0 victory securing a top spot finish.
